What Are Press On Nails and What Makes Ours Different?
During this time with COVID-19 is making people very wary of going into nail salons for services, I started doing my nails, and in between dips, gels, and acrylics, I love to wear custom press-on nails. They are a great way to have nails as you stepped out of the salon, and in many cases, it is less expensive than salon prices; however, it depends on how elaborate the designs are that you may desire.
So, what are press-on nails?
Press on nails is a type of temporary nail enhancement glued on to the natural nail. You can usually find them in department stores and drugstores in the cosmetic department hanging out with nail polish offerings. They are typically very inexpensive, and most people grab them when they are in a pinch and can’t get to the salon and just need cute polished nails on the go to complete a look. It may take a couple of applications to get the hang of putting them on, but once you get it. It takes around 10 minutes or less to pop them on, and you can put them on almost anywhere. Popular brands are KISS, Impress, and Dashing Diva, just to name several.

How to apply our press on nails like a pro
Step 1: Grab your TLC kit that came with your kit and your press-on nails. Take them out of the box and lay them out on a flat surface.
Step 2: Remove any left-over nail polish or residue off your nails and push back your cuticles. Wash your hands thoroughly.
Step 3: Option 1 - Buff the natural to take the shine off and to create a surface that will help the adhesion of the press on to the natural nail bed. Option 2 - Apply a coat or two of clear polish or nail hardener (for extra benefits for your natural nails) and let your nails dry. This process can help protect the nail from any chemicals found in the glue. You can lightly buff the surface of the polished nail.
Step 4: Rewash your hands or use an alcohol wipe or alcohol with a cotton ball to clean the surface of your nails. Washing your hands removes any residue and oils off the nails. Dry nails entirely or let the alcohol evaporate thoroughly.
Step 5: You are ready to apply the press-on nail. When applying press on nails, start from your pinkies and work your way to your thumbs—leave your thumbs for last.
Now you are ready to show off your cute nails.
How to Make Press-on Nails Last Longer? Here are a few simple tips.
Tip 1: Make sure to use rubbing alcohol to clean off any remaining residue and natural oils before applying even if you choose to apply the nail polish layer before applying nail glue.
Tip 2: Create a strong bond with the nail glue by applying it both to the back of the press-on nail and your natural nail.
Tip 3: Put pressure on every nail for 30 seconds as you are applying. Doing this spreads across the full nail surface, making press-on nails stick better.
Tip 4: Do not wash your hands or come in contact with water for at least 2 hours after application to help your press-on nails stay on longer. Applying the night before bed may help with not having to avoid washing your hands.
How to Remove Press-on Nails
You can easily take off press-on nails without damage. Never pull off the press on nails; this will damage your natural nails. Here are a few easy steps for removal. Please note that using acetone or polish remover may destroy the press on nails, so they may not be reusable after the following removal process. Here are some ways to remove the Press-ons:
Double-Boiler:
Fill a larger bowl with a couple of inches of hot water (not scalding). Then place another smaller bowl filled with acetone inside it. Once the acetone is warm, place your fingers into the bowl for about 5-10 minutes. Because acetone is so drying, I recommend slathering your fingers in olive oil beforehand. I use a timer and just space out in front of a TV.
Cuticle Oil:
Use a Q-tip to apply cuticle oil to your fingers all around the nail. A cotton ball soaked in cuticle oil works as well. After a few minutes, the press ons should remove easily.
Nail Clips:
Nail clips use your body heat will assist in the removal process. You can use either acetone or oil.
How to Reuse Press-on Nails
Another great thing about press-on nails is that you can reuse them. Use the cuticle oil .when you take them off if you plan to reuse. Do not use as acetone will eat away at the press on nails.
